An all age music venue is an understatement. Red Raven Studio, located at the corner of Mesa Avenue and Evans Avenue, is more of a haven for the creative. Most nights the venue hosts an array of musicians ranging from modern alternative to techno to heavy metal but they also have art displays, knitting classes, philosophical discussions, gay/lesbian/bi/trans-gender youth group meetings, and weekly open mic nights.
What Red Raven Studio lacks in curb appeal the venue makes up for with an eerie painted entry way leading to a concert hall on the second floor. The winding stairs bring spectators to overstuffed couches at the base of a stage. The room is outlined in paintings and sculptures fashioned by local artists creating an atmosphere perfect for live music. In between bands the perimeter of the room becomes the topic of discussion, as the art is not only a mood setter but a story teller.
The themed shows held at Red Raven studio make it different from any other venue in Pueblo. There is the common metal night but jazz nights and Ska nights have also been featured. One recent show offered a cover discount if people showed up wearing a mustache (real or fake). The Red Raven’s environment never fails to entertain their audience. Whatever the themed night, the atmosphere of Red Raven Studio is welcoming and lighthearted.
Whether a week night or week day, the venue is always serving up something new, young, and artsy.
