Tuesday, January 17, Cyclones and Eagles fans came to support their respective teams at the Jerry Kersey gymnasium. The two teams played an outstanding game. The first quarter was a battle; alternating shot after shot kept it a very close game. By the end of the first half, the Cyclones were down 22 to the Eagles’ 24.
As the buzzer rang for the second half to begin the crowd seemed pumped up and ready to watch the ending to a great game. Both teams eagerly took the floor, ready to get a win. Both teams scored points and the crowd was going wild, but the Cyclones began to lose the lead. Just when it seemed the game might turn into a blowout the Cyclones managed to keep their heads up, giving it a hundred and ten percent to come back. The final score of the game was Cyclones 45 Eagles 51.
Both teams left their heart on the court, shook hands, and walked out with therirheads up. Freshmen David Arrieta said, “We did not execute like we should have, but East played a great game and now we need to practice and get ready for our next.” Coach Tyler added, ” the heart of our team, both in scoring points, being a great defender and always being supportive is Garret Miller. He is an outstanding basketball player and a great player to look out for.” The Cyclones and Eagles both put on a great game and are both looking at a great season.
