Sir West dance

Saturday, January 28th, from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm, is Pueblo West high school’s annual Sir West dance. This year’s theme is Harry Potter!

Originally called Sadie Hawkins, Sir West is a semi-formal dance, where gender roles are swapped and the girls may ask out the boys. Much like homecoming, a court is voted on.This year’s 2017 sir west court is: Saxon Bryant, Bryce Hill, Wyatt Larrinaga, Hunter Mooring, Collin Thompson-Benavidez and Mitchell Wagoner.

The Week of sir west, January 23-26, will be sir west spirit week. Monday will be Disney day, Tuesday will be formal day, Wednesday will be favorite teacher day, and finally, Thursday will be Harry Potter day.

The Thursday before the dance, January 26th, there will be an assembly at 8:30 AM where the votes are tallied and the Sir West court winner is revealed. During this assembly you may hear the court’s speeches and witness their glorious walk with their accompanied date.

Sir west, along with many of the school dances. is put together by the Pueblo West student council.

In order to narrow down the plenty of themes, the members of student council pick a few ideas and ‘play with them’. “The process starts before winter break and we start picking spirit days and making-or buying props”, explained student class president, Evan Ward.

Every year the deca DJ program is used, however this will be the first year that PWHS will hire a professional DJ. His Name is Armando Chavez. He’s in his mid thirties and he works for IHeart Radio company. He came and met with the student council and they took a liking to him.

Tickets for Sir West are being sold in the athletics office for $10 per ticket, get your tickets now while they last! You can also buy a ticket at the door at the dance.
