Four years ago when I walked into Jerry Kersey Gym for the first time as a Cyclone I truly had no clue what I was in for. I knew that I was a part of something big, and I was right. Since freshman year I’ve become part of the best high school in not only Pueblo, but in my opinion, the entire state of Colorado. In my four years, PWHS has rocketed to the top of academics as well as athletics. It is the pride that makes me a Cyclone, however. I can’t imagine myself spending high school anywhere else. Nobody else has a bigger student section at a basketball game, they don’t have the classes that truly prepare you for the next step, and they don’t have the unity a Cyclone feels. Read More »

Red Raven Studio Rocks Pueblo

At the game all of the students knew the cheers and never stopped repeating them. Read More »
Traveling Wall Visits Home of Heroes
Pueblo, Colorado is known to many as “The Home of Heroes”. This name was given to the city because it is the only city to have four Medal of Honor recipients. The Medal of Honor is the highest military honor a soldier can receive and is given by the president.
The four recipients are William J. Crawford (WWII), Drew D. Dix (Vietnam), Carl L. Sitter (Korea), and Raymond G. (Jerry) Murphy (Korea). A memorial was built in historic downtown Pueblo for them in 2000. A statue of each soldier stands around a 35 foot flag pole and is accompanied by a granite slab that is etched with the name of each of the other 3,400 recipients. Read More »
Students Assemble For Monday Morning Devotionals
Faith is a major part of student’s lives at Pueblo West High School. This year, a small group of students are meeting for Monday Morning Devotionals. While PWHS has always had groups like FCA, Monday Morning Devotionals are brand new to the school year.
Monday Morning Devotionals are student lead and each week a student reads a passage of scripture and then creates a 20-25 minute devotional to which the group discusses. Read More »
